BACK WITH JAMES BOND: THE GOLDENEYE

Aaaaaaarrrgh!!! I can't believe i was gone for that long. It was definitely not my intention and i did not know i would either. Apologies LOVELIES! I had been in full hosting mode right from the moment our friends got here until they left just a couple of days ago. It was so much fun having them around. I was able to see more of this beautiful island called Jamaica with them. Yes, it is a pretty little world we all live in but finding time to appreciate it and soak it all in, most especially with your loved ones is precious and very much needed.

I was unable to go everywhere with them but one of my favorite of the few places we went to together here in Jamaica is called the James Bond Beach. It is located in Oracabessa which is about twenty minutes drive from downtown Ocho Rios. Adjacent to the beach is the Goldeneye Estate in Oracabessa (Jamaica's best kept secret) originally owned by the creator of James Bond, Ian Fleming. He bought the estate next to Golden Clouds (a Luxurious Villa) and built his house on the cliff overlooking the private beach. Ian Fleming created James Bond here and many of his fourteen novels were also written here. The Golden Clouds which is next to the Goldeneye Estate has been host to numerous celebrities and has attracted many famous residents such as, Bob Marley who later owned the Goldeneye Estate but then sold it to his record producer, Chris Blackwell. Scenes from the classic James Bond movie, "Dr No" were shot on this beach and the GoldenEye is now the title of the seventeenth James Bond movie.

At first, we were a little bit turned off by the idea of paying to get into the beaches here (afterall water is a free gift) but then it is a tourist town....(wink, wink). When an old man sits by the washrooms in Island Village Shopping Center with a container asking for some "contribution" before you use the PUBLIC bathroom you start to wonder (geesh!).

We got to the beach at 10:15 AM and we immediately noticed it was smaller than we thought, but gorgeously cute. It had two little beaches on opposite sides and there was really nobody there except for the bartender, the chef and the maintenance guy. Okaaay, plus a really rich person on his beautiful yacht just parked there on the water enjoying the amazing view....i guess (hmm lucky dude).

                                                                                Beach #2

It was peaceful, beautiful and very sweet (looove). We really enjoyed being there. Our friends and their cute little boy swam for as long as they wanted while i was busy taking pictures. We had the beach all to ourselves...I didn't swim (of course) but i was just happy to be alive and be there witnessing the goodness of life. In my opinion, Jamaica is truly a beautiful Island. Touché?

Thanks for reading. Please share.
